In 2010-11, the SKILLS team implemented the SKILLS curriculum as a 20-week (semester-long) elective social studies class, Language in Society, with partner school Carpinteria High School in Carpinteria, California. Units focused on language in the peer group, language in the family, language in the local community, and language in the world.

Approximate enrollment: 15

Nature of facilities/equipment used: Students had access to a computer lab on their high school campus and borrowed audio- and video-recording equipment provided by the SKILLS program
